Alanis Morissette — Live Rarities from the Under Rug Swept Era (2001–2002)

This collection gathers rare live performances by Alanis Morissette from 2001–2002, the period surrounding 'Under Rug Swept,' her first entirely self-written and self-produced album. Stitched together from several different sources, including black-and-white footage, a television broadcast and other concert recordings, it offers a rare look at an artist road-testing a new chapter of her songwriting in front of live audiences.

The heart of the collection is its deep cuts. Songs like 'Purgatorying,' 'Unprodigal Daughter,' 'Bent for You,' 'Sister Blister,' 'Simple Together' and 'Offer' were left off the album and later surfaced on the 'Feast on Scraps' companion release, and most of them were performed live only a handful of times. Alongside them come album tracks such as '21 Things I Want in a Lover,' 'So Unsexy,' 'Flinch,' 'Precious Illusions,' 'Narcissus,' 'A Man,' 'That Particular Time' and 'Surrendering,' closing with 'Hands Clean' and the album's hopeful finale, 'Utopia.'

Some of the true rarities here will delight dedicated fans: 'Still' from the 'Dogma' soundtrack, a heartfelt cover of The Beatles' 'Dear Prudence,' and even a playful nod to her early career with 'Too Hot,' a single from her 1991 debut album. Raw, intimate and full of surprises, this is a unique portrait of Alanis Morissette at one of her most creatively restless moments.
