In September 2008, California metal band Avenged Sevenfold—whose album Nightmare (2010) would soon mark their shift to progressive sounds—performed at Long Beach Arena, California, during a tour with new drummer Arin Ilejay following The Rev’s passing. Their 90-minute set, packed with Synyster Gates’ searing riffs and M. Shadows’ commanding vocals, blended nu-metal with hard rock elements, unleashing explosive energy before a sold-out crowd. Captured for the Live in the LBC DVD, the show stood out for its theatrical staging and emotional intensity, underscoring the band’s rising star status in the metal scene, igniting audiences with fervor.
