In April 2020, Canadian psychedelic rock band Black Mountain, formed in 2004 in Vancouver and renowned for a retro sound echoing Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd, delivered a full live rendition of their album Destroyer (2019) at CBC Music's Studio 211 in Toronto. This 50-minute set, captured in an intimate studio setting, fused heavy riffs with atmospheric keyboard layers from Stephen McBean, striking a balance between groove and melancholy that mirrored the album's themes of apocalypse and personal turmoil. The performance stood out for the band's spontaneous chemistry, where psychedelic jams amplified the sense of a living jam session, underscoring their progression from underground roots to a mature festival-ready sound.
