Scottish synth-pop luminaries CHVRCHES brought their electrifying sound to a special KEXP 'Live at Home' session, recorded at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles in 2021. This performance captures the trio – vocalist Lauren Mayberry, multi-instrumentalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, and live drummer Jonny Scott – in a dynamic setting, showcasing their prowess in translating their intricate electronic productions into a compelling live experience. The setlist draws heavily from their acclaimed 2021 album, Screen Violence, featuring tracks like 'Asking For A Friend,' 'California,' 'Final Girl,' 'How Not To Drown,' and 'Violent Delights.' The KEXP session highlights the band's signature blend of shimmering synthesizers, propulsive rhythms, and Mayberry's distinctive, often poignant vocals. Her commanding stage presence and the band's tight instrumental interplay create an immersive atmosphere, even within the 'at Home' format which, in this instance, found them performing from a renowned venue rather than a more intimate setting. CHVRCHES have consistently pushed the boundaries of modern pop, infusing their electronic soundscapes with a raw emotional depth that resonates deeply with listeners. This performance is a testament to their enduring appeal and their ability to deliver a powerful, memorable show, solidifying their reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in contemporary music. It's a perfect snapshot of a band at the peak of their creative powers, delivering a set that is both sonically rich and emotionally charged.
