Brazilian rap icon Criolo delivered a commanding performance on home turf during the inaugural The Town festival in São Paulo in September 2023. Taking the stage at the Autódromo de Interlagos, the artist showcased the depth and power that have made him one of the most respected voices in contemporary Brazilian music.
The set was a journey through his influential career, blending hip-hop with samba, reggae, and rock influences. Fans were treated to powerful renditions of classics like the São Paulo anthem "Não existe amor em SP" and the energetic "Subirusdoistiozin," each delivered with his signature intensity and lyrical prowess. Criolo's performance was a testament to his ability to connect with a massive festival crowd, turning the vast space into an intimate, shared experience.
A major highlight of the show was the explosive collaboration with legendary Brazilian band Planet Hemp. The two acts joined forces for a segment that included powerful versions of Planet Hemp's "Distopia" and "Mantenha o Respeito," as well as Criolo's own "Convoque seu buda." The combined energy on stage was palpable, creating an unforgettable moment that celebrated the rebellious spirit and social commentary central to both artists' work.
This concert was more than just a festival set; it was a powerful statement from a hometown hero at a landmark event, solidifying Criolo's status as a vital cultural force in Brazil.
