Cypress Hill, the legendary West Coast hip-hop pioneers, delivered an electrifying full set at the California Roots Music & Arts Festival in Monterey, California, back in 2015. This particular performance was specially released for 4/20, perfectly aligning with the group's long-standing association with cannabis culture. Known for their distinctive sound, characterized by B-Real's nasal, high-pitched flow, Sen Dog's gruff counter-rhymes, and DJ Muggs' innovative, often psychedelic production, Cypress Hill has consistently pushed the boundaries of hip-hop since their emergence in the early 90s. Their Cali Roots appearance showcased their enduring appeal and powerful stage presence, treating the audience to a barrage of their most iconic tracks. From the hard-hitting "How I Could Just Kill A Man" and the infectious "Insane in the Brain" to the stoner anthems "Hits From The Bong" and "Dr. Greenthumb," the setlist was a masterclass in their discography. The festival crowd was undoubtedly captivated by the raw energy and undeniable charisma that Cypress Hill brings to every live show. This recording captures a pivotal moment, highlighting why the group remains a formidable force in music, blending their signature sound with an unyielding commitment to their roots and their fans.
