Stepping onto the iconic Palco Mundo stage at Rock in Rio 2022, Demi Lovato delivered a commanding performance that cemented her bold transition into rock music. This electrifying set in Rio de Janeiro was a key showcase for her recently released album, "HOLY FVCK," and Lovato wasted no time in establishing the show's heavy, guitar-driven tone, opening with the album's powerful title track.
The setlist was a masterclass in bridging the past with the present. While new anthems like "SUBSTANCE" and "SKIN OF MY TEETH" showcased her raw, unapologetic new sound, Lovato also thrilled longtime fans by reimagining her biggest pop hits with a hard-rock edge. Electrifying rock versions of "Heart Attack," "Sorry Not Sorry," and "Cool for the Summer" gave the familiar tracks a new, ferocious energy. The performance also featured a special appearance by Royal & the Serpent for a duet on "EAT ME."
Beyond the hits, the show was a journey through Lovato's entire career, even dipping back into her Disney era with nostalgic favorites like "La La Land" and "Don't Forget." This thoughtful blend of old and new created a powerful connection with the massive festival crowd, satisfying both die-hard "Lovatics" and new listeners drawn to her rock evolution. It was a confident, high-octane performance that highlighted her incredible vocal range and stage presence.
