In December 2024, amid his global tour emphasizing exotic locales, American DJ and producer Diplo (Thomas Wesley Pentz)—co-founder of Mad Decent and tropical house pioneer with hits like "Where Are Ü Now" (2015) featuring Justin Bieber—staged a unique set in Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, a Brazilian reserve in Maranhão where white-sand dunes and lagoons form a surreal landscape drawing thousands of visitors yearly. His 60-minute DJ performance, recorded in a remote park zone after a six-hour drive, juxtaposed electronic beats against natural silence, blending house rhythms with local folk motifs to evoke isolation and euphoria for a small expedition group. As part of the "Higher Ground" series, this event highlighted Diplo's eccentricity as a performer, turning Brazil's desert into an impromptu festival oasis.
