In September 2015, at the height of the x Tour supporting the album x (Multiply), which sold over 14 million copies and signaled Ed Sheeran's shift from folk-acoustics to more orchestrated pop-rock with soul inflections, the British singer debuted at Rock in Rio—the legendary festival founded in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro as a global music platform—where his set emerged as one of the most emotive highlights among headliners like Queen and Rod Stewart. The 90-minute performance, delivered with a sparse band and loop pedal, captured the intimate power of his voice, alternating love ballads with festival anthems to spark collective euphoria before a 100,000-strong crowd under tropical skies. At Cidade do Rock, this show underscored Sheeran's street musician charisma, turning a stadium into a space of genuine connection.
