In December 2021, during the tour for his album = (Equals), which surpassed 4 billion streams and marked Ed Sheeran's return to minimalist folk-pop after collaboration experiments, the British singer headlined Capital's Jingle Bell Ball, an annual charity concert at The O2 Arena in London organized by Capital FM to support Global's Make Some Noise. His 90-minute set, performed with an acoustic guitar and loop pedal, showcased the intimate power of his voice and emotive lyrics, alternating ballads on love with festival anthems to spark euphoria for a 20,000-strong crowd. As his first major show after COVID-19 cancellations, it highlighted his status as a global icon, turning the arena into a space of genuine connection.
