In March 2019, Ukrainian guitarist Estas Tonne—master of acoustic flamenco and experimental soundscapes, whose album Perception (2019) with its multilayered percussive textures explores the boundary between improvisation and narrative—delivered an intimate concert at Samsung Hall in Zurich, a venue famed for jazz and folk improvisations since the 1990s. The 90-minute performance, captured in high quality, unfolded as a meditative ritual, where Tonne's finger techniques on classical guitar conjured a vortex of echoes in the hall to collective trance for a small audience. As part of his European tour, this show highlighted his role as a performer where flamenco acquires modern mysticism.
