Evanescence — Live Concert at Le Bataclan, Paris, France, 2004

In 2004, at the height of global acclaim for Fallen, which sold over 17 million copies and earned Evanescence two Grammy Awards for a breakthrough in nu-metal with gothic-rock hues, Amy Lee and her band delivered an iconic concert at Le Bataclan, a Paris venue opened in 1921 as a symbol of 20s bohemia, where their raw power with orchestral swells and Lee's vocal surges forged catharsis for a 2,500-strong crowd. The 90-minute set, later the core of the Anywhere But Home DVD, captured the group's nascent era, where Ben Moody's guitar walls intertwined with percussive drive to evoke themes of isolation and triumph, rendering the show a manifesto for female rock in a male-dominated genre.
