Dublin's post-punk titans Fontaines D.C. unleashed a torrent of raw energy upon the crowd at Glasgow Green during their powerful set at the 2022 TRNSMT Festival. Captured on July 9, 2022, this performance showcases the band at the peak of their powers, touring in support of their critically acclaimed third album, 'Skinty Fia,' which had been released just a few months prior.
The setlist was a masterclass in dynamics, weaving together the relentless, snarling drive of early tracks like 'Chequeless Reckless' and 'A Hero's Death' with the atmospheric intensity of newer material such as 'Jackie Down the Line' and the sprawling, anthemic 'I Love You.' Each song was delivered with a palpable sense of urgency and conviction that has become the band's signature on the live stage.
Frontman Grian Chatten's magnetic, prowling stage presence commanded the audience's attention, his incisive lyrics cutting through the festival's celebratory atmosphere with a dose of stark reality. It was a powerful, uncompromising statement from a band that has become one of the most vital live acts of their generation, leaving the Scottish audience spellbound.
