In May 2023, following drummer Taylor Hawkins' death in March 2022, Foo Fighters streamed "Preparing Music for Concerts" from their Studio 606 in Northridge, California—a facility built in 2005 featuring the Neve 8078 console used by Nirvana and Pink Floyd. The 90-minute Veeps event featured rehearsals of tracks from the upcoming album But Here We Are (released in June), the debut of new drummer Josh Freese, and guests including Hawkins' son Shane, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, and others. It marked the band's first public appearance post-tragedy, demonstrating tour readiness and emotional processing through music.
