In June 2021, Italian electronic duo Giolì & Assia—whose early EP Giolì & Assia (2018) marked their breakthrough in the house scene with a fusion of electronics, indie, and Assia's vocal loops—performed a handpan set for #DiesisLive, Diesis Music's series of intimate concerts launched in 2018 as a platform for live sessions in exotic locales, where Episode 07 formed part of the performance at Calanchi di Centuripe, a natural canyon in Enna, Sicily—eroded by rivers and offering Mediterranean vistas, just 30 minutes from their Trapani home. The 30-minute set, filmed by directors Graziano Piazza and Marco Drillo with drone footage over the canyon, embodied their lockdown tour climax, where Giolì's throbbing house rhythms intertwined with Assia's emotive vocal improvisations to forge a meditative flow against the rocky landscape, evoking hypnotic catharsis for a small audience. As a rare artifact of their shift from club roots to immersive acts, this show transmuted the Sicilian canyon into a portal of emotional trance.
