In August 2016, French metal band Gojira—whose album Magma (2016), released two months earlier, marked their mainstream breakthrough with technical death metal and ecological themes—performed at Bloodstock Open Air, an annual festival launched in 2005 at Catton Park, Derbyshire, UK, as a platform for extreme metal emphasizing headliners like Slayer and Mastodon. Their 60-minute Ronnie James Dio Stage set, captured in high quality, embodied their European tour climax, where Joe Duplantier's technical riffs merged with Mario Duplantier's drum power to spark collective ecstasy among thousands under summer skies. Part of a lineup with Twisted Sister and Anthrax, this show highlighted Gojira's genre-innovator role, turning the festival grounds into a realm of rebellion and unity.
