British post-punk titans IDLES unleashed their signature brand of controlled chaos upon the Corona Capital festival in Guadalajara, Mexico, in May 2023. Taking the stage at the Valle VFG, the band delivered a blistering set that affirmed their reputation as one of the most vital and electrifying live acts in modern rock. The performance was a masterclass in raw energy, emotional intensity, and communal catharsis, captivating the massive festival crowd from the very first note.
The set kicked off with the slow-burning, explosive power of "Colossus," which famously included a snippet of Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball," immediately setting a tone of unpredictability and confrontational fun. Frontman Joe Talbot, a magnetic and menacing presence, prowled the stage, delivering his incisive lyrics with guttural force. The band tore through fan favorites like the sardonic "Mr. Motivator," the fiercely protective anthem "Mother," and the unifying "Danny Nedelko." Each song was a visceral experience, driven by the pummeling rhythm section and the jagged, dissonant guitars of Mark Bowen and Lee Kiernan, who spent much of the set venturing into the adoring audience. The performance culminated in the ferocious closer "Rottweiler," leaving the audience breathless and exhilarated.
