In June 2017, American pop-rock band Imagine Dragons—at the peak of the Evolve World Tour supporting the freshly released Evolve (2017), marking their shift to a more electronic and cinematic sound after Smoke + Mirrors—performed at Southside Festival, Hurricane's German "sister" launched in 1997 in Neuhausen ob Eck as a platform for alternative music among 60,000 on a former military airfield. Their hour-long main stage set on June 25, captured in high quality, embodied the European tour climax, where Wayne Sermon's guitar riffs merged with Ben McKee's synth textures and Dan Reynolds' vocal intensity to spark euphoria under summer sun. Featuring tracks like "Thunder", "Believer", and "Radioactive", this show highlighted their role as 2010s stadium pop-rock leaders, turning the ex-airfield into a realm of collective triumph.
