In July 2023, British acid jazz band Incognito—founded in 1979 by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and genre pioneers with albums like Jazz Funk (1981) and Tribes, Vibes and Scribes (1992)—performed at Jazz à Vienne, one of Europe's oldest jazz festivals launched in 1981 in Vienne's Roman amphitheater, France, as a platform for jazz, funk, and soul among 8,000 attendees. Their 90-minute main stage set at Théâtre Antique, captured in high quality by Qwest TV, embodied their European tour climax, where Francis Hylton's funky bass lines merged with vocals from Vanessa Haynes and Tony Momrelle, while brass sections evoked 70s vibes to spark euphoria under summer skies. Featuring tracks like "Still a Friend of Mine", "Always There", and "Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing", this show highlighted Incognito's veteran status in British funk, turning the Roman amphitheater into a realm of collective groove.
