In August 2023, American indie-rock band Interpol—post-punk revival pioneers with albums like Turn on the Bright Lights (2002), marking their breakthrough with moody textures and Joy Division influences—performed at Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, an annual event launched in 2008 in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park as a platform for alternative music emphasizing indie and rock among 200,000 attendees. Their 60-minute main stage set, captured in high quality, was dedicated to a full playthrough of their debut album Turn on the Bright Lights for its 20th anniversary, where Paul Banks and Daniel Kessler's guitar textures merged with Sam Fogarino's drum power to evoke emotional resonance under California sun. Part of a lineup with Foo Fighters and Kendrick Lamar, this show highlighted their veteran status in New York post-punk, turning the festival grounds into a realm of collective trance.
