In April 2019, American blues-rock guitarist Jackie Venson—from Austin and known for her fusion of soul, blues, and rock on albums like Joy (2019), marking her breakthrough with emotive ballads on joy and healing after Vintage Machine (2016)—performed a special release concert at Paramount Theatre, the historic venue opened in 1915 as an Art Deco cinema and a bastion of Texas music culture with 1,300 capacity. The 90-minute set on April 12, captured in high quality, embodied her creative era climax, where technical Gibson ES-335 solos merged with emotive vocals and funky riffs from her band to evoke warm resonance before a sold-out crowd. As the first performance of the Joy album and later the basis for the remastered Evolution of Joy (2023), this show highlighted her role as a leading modern blues guitarist, turning the theater into a space of genuine unity.
