In July 2017, British acid jazz-funk band Jamiroquai—led by Jay Kay and at the peak of their tour supporting Automaton (2017), marking a return to electronic funk after a 7-year hiatus—performed at North Sea Jazz Festival, the world's largest jazz event at Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands. Their 75-minute Nile stage set on July 9, captured in high quality, embodied the European tour climax, where Rob Harris' funky bass lines merged with Matt Johnson's keys and Jay Kay's vocal intensity to spark euphoria among the crowd. Featuring tracks like "Shake It On", "Space Cowboy", "Automaton", and "Virtual Insanity", this show highlighted their role as British funk pioneers, turning the hall into a realm of collective groove.
