In December 2016, Texas psychedelic trio Khruangbin—led by Laura Lee, Mark Speer, and Donald "DJ" Johnson—performed an intimate concert in the Berlin Michelberger Hotel lobby, a cozy space with wooden panels and retro vibe, as part of the Live from the Lobby series. Captured professionally, the show caught the band in their early European tour phase before Con Todo El Mundo (2018): Lee's bass set the pulsing groove, Speer's guitar painted exotic melodies with Thai funk and surf-rock influences, and Johnson's drums added lightness—all without excess words, just instrumental dialogue with a small audience. This gig—pure Khruangbin magic: minimalism where every note breathes freedom, fully immersing listeners in a hypnotic flow of exotic sounds.
