King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, those Aussies mixing psychedelic rock, garage rock, and experimental vibes since 2010, create a sound that feels like it’s from another dimension. Their gig on September 14, 2024, at Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix was all about their knack for juggling genres. Stu Mackenzie sang with such fire, his voice gritty one moment, melodic the next, driving the whole set. Guitars, synths, and rhythms from Joey Walker and Michael Cavanagh built a layered sonic landscape, chaotic yet tight. The theater’s acoustics made every chord feel alive, and the lights, shifting from neon to warm, played up the mood swings. The crowd, swaying and singing, felt like they were lost in a musical cosmos.
