In August 2024, Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard—led by Stu Mackenzie and at the peak of their tour supporting albums like Flight b741 (2024)—delivered the second night of their New York residency at Forest Hills Stadium, a historic open-air venue in Queens with Manhattan skyline views. The August 17 show before 14,000 became a true 3-hour marathon: the band at full strength showcased material from recent releases with their signature mix of garage rock, psychedelia, and kraut motors, where Amby Kenny-Smith and Cook Craig's guitar riffs backed Michael Cavanagh's drums, while Mackenzie's vocals added mad charm. Captured professionally as part of the official bootleg Live in New York City '24, the performance caught them in hypnotic form—from extended jams to thrash bursts, with the crowd fully immersed in endless flow. The residency's second night—a standout tour moment—proved their mastery of live chaos and invention.
