In July 2025, Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard—led by Stu Mackenzie and at the peak of their tour supporting albums like Flight b741 (2024)—opened their Bulgarian residency with the first night in Plovdiv, an open-air arena in the ancient city with Rodopi mountain views. This show became the start of a three-day Bulgaria stay, showcasing material from recent releases with their signature mix of garage rock, psychedelia, and kraut motors. Captured professionally as part of the official bootleg Live in Bulgaria '25, the performance caught them in hypnotic form: Amby Kenny-Smith and Cook Craig's guitar riffs backed Michael Cavanagh's drums, while Mackenzie's vocals added mad charm. The residency's first night—a standout tour moment—proved their mastery of live chaos and invention.
