The KEXP studio in Seattle became a space of lush, organic soundscapes when UK electronic duo Maribou State stopped by for this captivating live session. Known for their meticulously crafted electronic productions, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory brought an expanded ensemble to reinterpret their music, transforming their sound for a live audience.
Flanked by a full rhythm section, the soulful vocals of Talulah Buchanan, and a sublime string quartet, the performance showcases the depth and texture of their compositions in a new light. The four-song set, featuring tracks like "Otherside" and "Bloom," is a masterclass in translation from studio to stage. The intricate electronic layers that define their sound are woven seamlessly with live drums, warm basslines, and soaring string arrangements.
The result is an immersive experience that is both danceable and deeply emotive, highlighting the duo's ability to create music that resonates on both a physical and emotional level. This session is a testament to Maribou State's evolution as live performers, demonstrating how their sophisticated electronic sound can blossom into a powerful, collaborative, and deeply human musical event.
