Metronomy brought their signature blend of quirky synth-pop and indie-dance energy to the massive Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City. Performing at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the British electronic group delivered a set that was both effortlessly cool and irresistibly danceable. Led by the creative force of Joseph Mount, the band has cultivated a reputation for sharp, stylish live shows, and this 2023 appearance was no exception.
Their music, which draws from new wave, funk, and electronic pop, created a vibrant atmosphere that resonated with the festival crowd. The performance was a showcase of their eclectic sound, moving between the sun-drenched melodies reminiscent of their iconic album "The English Riviera" and the more experimental, groove-heavy tracks from their extensive catalog. The tight rhythm section, featuring Anna Prior on drums and Olugbenga Adelekan on bass, provided a powerful foundation for the shimmering synths and Mount's distinctive vocals.
As a band known for their polished musicianship and engaging stage presence, Metronomy connected with the audience, turning their slot at one of Latin America's most important music events into a memorable highlight. The concert was a testament to their enduring appeal and their ability to craft a live experience that is both sophisticated and incredibly fun.
