MEUTE — Live Performance at fux eG Rooftop, Hamburg, Germany 2020

Against the backdrop of the Hamburg skyline, the eleven-piece collective MEUTE redefines what a live performance can be. This full-length session, recorded in the summer of 2020 on the rooftop of the fux eG cooperative, captures the group's raw energy in a unique open-air setting. The performance was organized as an act of solidarity with the local music scene, offering a powerful musical experience to fans worldwide at a time when traditional concerts were not possible.

MEUTE is a self-described “techno marching band,” a concept that is as brilliant in execution as it is on paper. The Hamburg-based group deconstructs house and techno anthems, reassembling them piece by piece with a formidable brass section and an intricate web of percussion. They detach electronic music from the DJ desk, translating its hypnotic drive and rhythmic complexity into a purely acoustic, human-powered spectacle. Dressed in their signature red marching band jackets, the musicians create a striking visual and sonic contrast, bringing the precision and power of a classical ensemble to the heart of electronic club culture.

This rooftop concert showcases their innovative approach perfectly. The band moves as a single organism, delivering driving beats and soaring brass melodies that transform well-known electronic tracks into something entirely new and visceral. It’s a performance that bridges genres and proves that the pulsing energy of techno needs no electronics to make the world dance.
