MEUTE — Live Performance for Electronic Beats TV, Berlin, Germany 2017

What happens when the relentless, hypnotic pulse of techno is channeled through the raw, acoustic power of a marching band? The answer is MEUTE, an eleven-piece ensemble from Hamburg that has revolutionized live electronic music. This special session, recorded for the influential Electronic Beats TV in Berlin, captures the collective in its element, deconstructing iconic club tracks and rebuilding them with brass and drums.

Founded in 2015 by trumpeter Thomas Burhorn, MEUTE strips away the DJ decks and synthesizers, replacing them with a formidable wall of sound from saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a powerful percussion section. They arrange and reinterpret techno and house anthems, transforming digital precision into a visceral, human-powered spectacle. The band first gained viral fame in 2016 with their rendition of Âme's "Rej," and their innovative approach has made them a fixture at festivals worldwide.

In this 2017 performance, MEUTE unleashes its orchestrated energy within an industrial Berlin setting, a fitting backdrop for their acoustic take on techno. The performance is a masterclass in coordination and power, with the musicians' movements as tight as their arrangements. It's a project that bridges the gap between the DJ booth and the concert stage, proving that the driving force of electronic music can be thrillingly organic.
