In a departure from their usual stadium-filling anthems, Mumford & Sons delivered a beautifully intimate and heartfelt performance for Dutch radio station NPO 3FM. Recorded in 2019 as part of the exclusive '3FM Mega Exclusive' series, this session captures the British folk-rock giants in a stripped-back setting, allowing their raw musicianship and intricate harmonies to take center stage. The performance was a special treat for a small audience, including a lucky fan who won a private concert experience.
The setlist is a thoughtful blend of new and old, opening with the tender 'Woman' from their then-recent album 'Delta'. The band revisits classics like the soul-stirring 'Awake My Soul' and 'Wild Heart', reminding listeners of their powerful, acoustic-driven roots. A standout moment is their poignant cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm on Fire', which they make entirely their own with delicate banjo and Marcus Mumford's emotive vocals. Closing with 'Only Love', the session is a testament to the band's versatility and their ability to create a profound connection with their audience, no matter the size of the room.
