This electrifying performance captures German power metal titans Powerwolf during their celebrated Wolfsnächte Tour in 2015. Recorded at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany, this show was immortalized as part of the band's first major live album and DVD, "The Metal Mass Live." The tour was in support of their sixth studio album, "Blessed & Possessed," and found the band at the height of their powers, delivering their signature blend of epic hooks and gothic theatrics to a packed house.
Known for their highly stylized and cinematic stage presence, Powerwolf transforms each concert into a ritualistic heavy metal ceremony. Frontman Attila Dorn, adorned in his priestly vestments, commands the stage with a powerful voice and charismatic presence, leading the audience through a setlist of anthems like "We Drink Your Blood" and "Amen & Attack." The band's werewolf-themed mythology, complete with corpse paint, elaborate stage designs, and a palpable sense of dark humor, creates an immersive and unforgettable live experience. This recording from Oberhausen is a testament to their reputation as one of modern power metal's most formidable live acts.
The energy inside the Turbinenhalle is palpable, with the crowd's chants and participation forming an essential part of the 'mass'. This video is more than just a concert recording; it's a snapshot of a band in perfect sync with their audience, delivering a performance that is both musically tight and visually spectacular. It perfectly showcases why the Wolfsnächte tours have become a must-see event for metal fans across Europe.
