In 2017 one of the leading voices of the modern Jamaican reggae revival, Protoje, took the stage at the legendary Summerjam Festival in Cologne. Backed by his band The Indiggnation, he delivered a tight and confident set that blended classic roots reggae, dancehall and dub with his signature toasting and clear messages.
The performance opened with the powerful “I&I” and moved through strong cuts like “Criminal”, “Sudden Flight” and “Blood Money”, closing with the signature track “Kingston Be Wise”. Protoje sounded calm, charismatic and genuinely alive — no unnecessary showmanship, just real stage energy. This is one of those shows where you can feel both deep respect for the roots and a contemporary approach to the genre.
