Radiohead — Live Studio Session at From The Basement, London, UK 2011

In 2011, Radiohead delivered an intimate and definitive live interpretation of their eighth studio album, "The King of Limbs," for the celebrated music series *From The Basement*. Recorded in the controlled environment of London's Maida Vale Studios, the performance strips away the spectacle of a stadium show to focus entirely on the intricate, rhythm-driven compositions of the album. This setting allowed the band to present the material in a "different light," as envisioned by producer and *From The Basement* creator, Nigel Godrich.

The session is notable for its faithful yet organic recreation of the album's complex, electronic soundscapes. To achieve this, Radiohead expanded their lineup, bringing in drummer Clive Deamer to perform alongside Philip Selway. This dual-drummer setup provides the powerful, layered rhythmic foundation that is central to tracks like "Bloom" and "Feral." The performance also features a brass section on several songs, adding warmth and texture to the arrangements.

Free from the constraints of a traditional concert, the *From The Basement* session captures the band's deep synergy and meticulous craftsmanship. It’s a unique document that not only showcases the songs from "The King of Limbs" but also includes powerful renditions of other tracks from the period, such as "The Daily Mail" and "Staircase." For many, this performance is considered the essential live version of the album, revealing the human energy and raw musicality at the heart of Radiohead's studio creations.
