Scorpions — Live Concert at Convento do Beato, Lisbon, Portugal 2001

In a departure from their stadium-rocking electric anthems, German hard rock legends Scorpions delivered a truly special series of performances in February 2001. Set within the historic and spiritual walls of the Convento do Beato, a former monastery in Lisbon, Portugal, the band presented "Acoustica," an intimate and ambitious unplugged project. This unique setting provided the perfect atmosphere for reimagining their iconic catalog, stripping back the heavy distortion to reveal the raw melodic power of their songwriting.

The performance was more than just an acoustic set; it was a full-scale production. Scorpions were joined on stage by an ensemble of guest musicians, including an extra guitarist, a percussionist, a cellist, female backing vocalists, and keyboardist Christian Kolonovits, who also helped arrange the new versions of the songs. The setlist masterfully blended timeless hits like "The Zoo," "Holiday," and "Wind of Change" with new tracks written specifically for the event, such as "When Love Kills Love." The result is a rich, textured sound that breathes new life into fan favorites and showcases the band's exceptional musicianship in a rare, refined context, proving their musical prowess extends far beyond heavy riffs and power ballads.
