In April 2016, Slightly Stoopid returned for their second session at TRI Studios, the state-of-the-art recording and broadcast facility founded by the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir in San Rafael, California. This intimate performance captures the band in its element, transforming a high-tech studio into a laid-back jam session reminiscent of their Ocean Beach roots. The "and Friends" moniker is fully realized with an impressive lineup of guests, including Jurassic 5's Chali 2na, Angelo Moore of Fishbone, reggae legend Don Carlos, and the studio's own Bob Weir, who joins the band for a few songs.
Known for their eclectic fusion of reggae, rock, blues, and hip-hop, Slightly Stoopid delivers a career-spanning set that feels both relaxed and musically tight. The studio setting allows for pristine audio quality, highlighting the interplay between the core band and their collaborators. The appearance by Chali 2na on "Just Thinking" is a standout moment, showcasing the natural chemistry between the band's breezy grooves and the rapper's iconic bass-baritone flow. The performance is a testament to the band's collaborative spirit and their central place in the American reggae rock scene, creating a unique and memorable event that feels more like a party with musical heroes than a formal recording.
