This professionally shot video captures the sheer force of Slipknot as they unleash their sonic assault on the massive crowd at the Summer Sonic festival in Chiba, Japan. Recorded on August 13, 2005, at the Chiba Marine Stadium, the performance finds the nine-piece Iowa powerhouse at a pivotal moment in their career. They were touring in support of their critically acclaimed 2004 album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)," a record that saw them expand their sound while retaining the raw aggression that made them a global phenomenon.
Clad in their iconic masks and jumpsuits, the band delivers a blistering set that showcases their unparalleled live energy. The setlist is packed with anthems from their first three albums, including the Grammy-winning "Before I Forget," the chaotic "The Blister Exists," and the roaring crowd-pleaser "Duality." This performance is a prime document of The Subliminal Verses World Tour, which was the band's most extensive tour to date, cementing their reputation as one of the most intense and unforgettable live acts in heavy metal. The high-quality recording offers a front-row perspective on the controlled chaos, from the visceral percussion to Corey Taylor's commanding vocal performance, making it an essential watch for any fan.
