Filmed in the famously intimate, sun-drenched backyard setting of the Sugarshack Sessions in Bonita Springs, Florida, this performance captures the essence of SOJA's magnetic stage presence. The Arlington, Virginia-based band delivers a set that feels both relaxed and musically tight, showcasing the soulful energy that has earned them a global following and a Grammy Award. This session is a perfect example of the Sugarshack's mission: to strip down performances to their acoustic core, creating an authentic and direct connection between artists and their audience.
For over two decades, SOJA has been a formidable force in the reggae world, blending roots reggae with elements of rock and hip-hop to craft a sound that is uniquely their own. This performance is a testament to their seasoned musicianship and the powerful chemistry of the eight-member band. The setlist for "Vol. 2" is a journey through their thoughtful lyricism and infectious grooves, all amplified by the warm, organic acoustics of the Sugarshack environment. It offers fans a chance to experience the band not in a massive stadium, but in a personal, up-close setting that feels like a private jam session among friends.
This live recording highlights the band's ability to convey profound messages with an uplifting and accessible vibe. The video, released in 2024, is part of a larger collection of acoustic recordings the band created at the Sugarshack, rearranging songs from their award-winning album 'Beauty in the Silence'. It’s a raw, honest, and joyful performance that encapsulates the spirit of both the band and the iconic music series.
