Swedish garage-rock legends The Hives demonstrate that their electrifying energy is just as potent in an intimate studio as it is on a massive festival stage. This high-octane set at the KROQ Helpful Honda Sound Space in Los Angeles captures the band doing what they do best: delivering frantic, swaggering rock and roll with unmatched intensity. Dressed in their signature matching suits, the quintet tears through a powerful performance, showcasing the relentless energy they've been known for over three decades.
Frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist is a magnetic force, engaging the audience with the charisma of a seasoned preacher, while the band behind him provides a tight, explosive soundtrack. The performance, which took place in 2023, served as a powerful reminder of why The Hives are consistently lauded as one of the best live acts in the world. Their sound, a blend of punk urgency and catchy, riff-heavy rock, feels both timeless and thrillingly immediate in this up-close setting. This session is a concentrated dose of pure, unfiltered rock music, proving the band remains at the absolute peak of their powers.
