Capturing the exuberant energy of The Lemon Twigs, this performance from the 2018 Lowlands festival in the Netherlands showcases the band at a pivotal moment. Brothers Brian and Michael D'Addario, known for their flamboyant stage presence and multi-instrumental talents, lead the charge with a set that blends glam rock theatrics with intricate pop sensibilities. The concert took place on August 18, 2018, just days before the release of their ambitious sophomore album, "Go to School," a rock opera about a chimpanzee raised as a human.
The setlist is a dynamic mix of tracks from their debut "Do Hollywood" and the then-forthcoming concept album. The audience was treated to early live versions of songs like "Small Victories" and "The Fire," alongside established favorites such as "I Wanna Prove to You" and "As Long as We're Together." The Lemon Twigs' sound, deeply rooted in the theatrical rock and baroque pop of the 1960s and 70s, is on full display. Their performance is a whirlwind of high kicks, intricate harmonies, and impressive musicianship, demonstrating why they are regarded as one of the most compelling live acts to emerge from the Long Island, New York music scene.
